The label beside this exhibit in the Istanbul Military Museum reads: "A monument to heroism. The wooden model of a cannon erected in Beyazit Square in aid if those who had displayed heroism at Çanakkale (1915) and their families. Each boss on the cannon represents a kuruş donation."
On other labels the Turks who died in what they call the Dardanelles War are described as "martyrs".
The attitude to the casualties on the British / ANZAC side is perhaps summed up in the phrase "never knew there were worse things than dying" in the song "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda".
